The taste of the Mediterranean – prepare a Spanish specialty Paella

Without a doubt one of Spain‘s most well-known and well-loved culinary delights, paella is a traditional rice-based dish.

Paella

Required:

  • 750 g of rice
  • 12 pieces of chicken
  • 150 g of white beans
  • 300 g of peas
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 12 shrimp with peel
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1.5 liters of chicken broth
  • 2 sachets of saffron powder
  • 12 shells
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation:

Fry the chicken in olive oil in a large, deep bowl. Add the peas and fry for a few minutes. Then add the garlic, diced pepper and tomatoes. Mix well and add the chicken broth. Let it boil for about 15 minutes. Add the rice, salt and pepper and mix with a wooden spoon. Add the saffron, shrimp, mussels and beans. Stir until the soup is absorbed. It must be boiled on low heat for at least 15 minutes. Allow to stand for a few minutes before serving.
