Guava – why it’s useful?

It is estimated that one plate of guava contains as much as nine grams of fiber compared to other “rich” foods, but also 635 more potassium than a medium sized banana. It contains little iron, but it is particularly rich in copper, manganese and folic acid is exceptional in the diet – one fruit contains only 50 calories. In addition, it lowers blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides, acts as an adjunct to diabetes because it lowers blood sugar levels, so two fresh guava per day are recommended.

Due to its healing properties and abundance of useful ingredients, it should be consumed more often, as in 100 grams of guava has twice as much vitamin C than lemon and orange. This vitamin plays a key role in the production of collagen and is important for the skin. A US study of 4,000 women between the ages of 40 and 74 found that those women who consumed more vitamin C-rich foods had less wrinkles than those who consumed less of this vitamin. In addition, vitamin C protects against bacteria, especially listeria and staphylococci.

Joint research by US and Thai scientists has shown that guava has identical antioxidant activity as “super foods”, black currant and broccoli. In larger quantities it also has an extremely important vitamin – Vitamin A, and is an absolute record holder in the amount of lycopene, an antioxidant that protects against prostate cancer. Lycopene also contains more than tomatoes and watermelons, which are considered extremely rich in this important ingredient. Lycopene protects healthy cells from free radicals, which lead to degenerative changes, impaired arterial function, nervous system disorders and other damage to the body. Due to the high concentration of antioxidants, experts consider it an exotic “ultimate food”.

1. HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

Lycopene helps fight cancer. As a powerful antioxidant it protects the body from the harmful effects of radiation that results in cell damage. These impairments can lead to the development of other diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis and heart disease. Its regular consumption also prevents the occurrence of prostate cancer and breast cancer.

2. PREVENTS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

Guava is rich in fiber and potassium. It lowers harmful cholesterol levels and lowers high blood pressure. This is another reason why it is useful for those who are prone to heart disease and high blood pressure.

3. RELEASE FROM COUGH AND COLDS

As it is rich in vitamin C, guava helps to improve the immune system and increases the resistance to infections, such as cough and colds. It also helps treat cough and cleanses the airways of infections.
